The Levenmouth Whale Project collects the following data:

  • Personal identification information (Name, email address, location, phone number, etc.)
  • Non-personal Identifiable Data (web statistics & usage)

You directly provide the Levenmouth Whale Project with most of the data we collect. We collect data and process data when you:

  • Register as a member, either online through our website, or offline with our membership form. When you register as a member we require: Name, Address, Phone Number, Email Address.
  • Sign our petition in support of the project. We collect your name and address
  • Voluntarily provide feedback on any of our message boards or via email.
  • Use or view our website via your browser’s cookies (non-identifiable personal data).

The Levenmouth Whale Project may also receive your data indirectly from the following sources:

  • Interactions with our social media channels

The Levenmouth Whale Project collects your data so that we can:

  • Process your membership.
  • Email you with our news, minutes and other related items you may have signed up to.

If you agree, the Levenmouth Whale Project may share your data with third parties to show support for the project.

  • MailChimp: For sending digital newsletters. We share names & email addresses.
  • Companies House: we provide copies of our membership list (name, address)
  • 3rd party funders: we provide surname and postcode to show geographical support

We never share your personal data with 3rd parties for the purpose of advertising. We never sell your personal data.

The Levenmouth Whale Project securely stores your data in several locations and formats:

  • Data collected via petition: Online via https (encrypted protocol). Data collected is name, email and address.
  • Data collected via membership forms: All data collected is downloaded and entered into a spreadsheet. Once entered into a spreadsheet, the data provided via membership form is deleted/shredded. The spreadsheet is password protected & encrypted. 
  • Data provided voluntarily: If you have contacted us with a query, or anything else, we will respond you then remove any personal data.

The Levenmouth Whale Project will keep your:

  • Petition Data until we no longer require the petition, or until you have requested the deletion of your data.
  • Membership Data for as long as you are a member. If you resign as a member your data will be removed within 1 week of your resignation.
  • Voluntarily provided Data will be removed as soon as we have dealt with your query.

Once this time period has expired, we will delete your data by:

  • Digital deletion: purging any databases & caches of your data that is held online or offline
  • Shredding: we will shred any hardcopies of your data

The Levenmouth Whale Project would like to send you information about our projects that we think you might like.

  • MailChimp: We use MailChimp to deliver newsletters and will share your name and email address

If you have agreed to receive newsletters, you may always opt out at a later date.

You have the right at any time to stop the Levenmouth Whale Project from sending you newsletters.

If you no longer wish to receive our newsletters, please contact us.

The Levenmouth Whale Project would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:
  • The right to access – You have the right to request the Levenmouth Whale Project for copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.
  • The right to rectification – You have the right to request that the Levenmouth Whale Project correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request the Levenmouth Whale Project to complete the information you believe is incomplete.
  • The right to erasure – You have the right to request that the Levenmouth Whale Project erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
